Peec AI vs Scrunch: Which AI Visibility Tool Should You Choose?

By Vamshi Krishna, FounderPublished

Quick answer

Choose Peec AI if you want the most data for the least money and will spend an hour fixing its defaults: its Starter plan is $95 a month, but out of the box its headline score counts prompts that contain your own brand name. Choose Scrunch if you want an honest headline with no setup and can pay $250 a month, accepting fewer engines and less frequent checks per prompt. Neither tool tells you why AI skips you or proves a fix worked.

Peec AI and Scrunch both track how ChatGPT, Google's AI answers and other assistants talk about your brand. We ran both on our own brand, Cognova AI, in October 2026 and compared what they showed with what the AI answers actually said.

This comparison is for owners and marketing leads at small and mid-sized businesses choosing their first AI visibility tool. It covers price, setup, how honest the default numbers are, and where each tool falls short.

The bottom line

If you have under $250 a month and someone willing to spend an hour on setup, choose Peec AI: filter the dashboard to non-branded prompts and replace the competitor list on day one, and it will give you more data per dollar than Scrunch. If nobody on your team will touch the settings, or you need alerts you can act on without second-guessing them, choose Scrunch and add your own buying-stage prompts.

Whichever you pick, treat the first week's numbers as a baseline, not a verdict. Neither tool explains why AI leaves you out or proves that a change you made is what moved the number.

  1. 1.Peec AI

    Verdict
The better value and the richer data, but only after you fix the default prompts and competitor list.
    Best for
Budget-conscious teams and agencies with someone who will filter to non-branded prompts and check the raw answers.

Peec AI runs your prompts every day on three AI engines you choose and stores the full answers, every cited source, the web searches ChatGPT ran behind each answer, and copies of cited pages so you can see when one changed. Its pricing page publishes a clear formula: monthly AI answers equal prompts times engines times frequency, so the $95 Starter plan buys 4,500 answers. Its recommendations named specific articles to pitch and forum threads to join.

Watch the defaults. About one in five of the prompts Peec generated for us contained our brand name, and those prompts produced the entire headline visibility score: across its non-branded answers, AI never mentioned Cognova AI. Its auto-picked competitors were large enterprise AI companies the answers almost never named. Peec labels every prompt as branded or non-branded, so the fix is a filter and a new competitor list, not a new tool.

    Pros

    • Lowest entry price, with daily checks on three engines
    • Full answers, cited sources, search fan-outs and page history
    • Public definitions for every metric and a branded or non-branded label on every prompt
    • Multi-client workspaces and pooled credits for agencies

    Cons

    • Default headline score mixes in prompts that contain your brand name
    • Auto-selected competitors may not be the brands AI actually names
    • No error ranges or significance tests, so small daily swings look like trends

  2. 2.Scrunch

    Verdict
The more honest default view and stronger alerting, at more than twice the entry price.
    Best for
Mid-market teams that want trustworthy numbers on day one and plan to grow into enterprise features.

Scrunch's starter prompts for us were all non-branded, so its headline mention rate for Cognova AI was zero, the uncomfortable number a small brand should see first. When you are not mentioned, it leaves position and sentiment empty instead of showing a flattering score. It checks whether the pages AI cites actually mention you, and it tests alerts for statistical significance before they fire.

Its gaps were elsewhere. The auto-picked competitor list missed Synthflow, the rival its own answers named most often, so competitor share of voice was split across the wrong set. The $250 Core plan covers 125 prompts on four engines with 5,000 responses a month, which is not enough to check every prompt on every engine every day. API and MCP access, more engines, and its service that serves AI crawlers a simplified copy of your pages are Enterprise features.

    Pros

    • Non-branded prompts by default, so the headline is honest
    • Leaves position and sentiment empty when you are not mentioned
    • Significance-tested alerts cut false alarms
    • More prompts on the entry plan than Peec Starter

    Cons

    • Entry plan costs more than twice Peec Starter
    • Auto-picked competitors missed the rival named most often
    • API, MCP and wider engine coverage need the Enterprise plan

When to choose Peec AI

Choose Peec AI when price matters and you have someone who will read the data rather than just the dashboard. Its daily checks, stored answers and search fan-outs give you more to work with than any other tool we tested at this price.

Do three things in the first hour. Filter every chart to non-branded prompts. Replace the suggested competitors with the brands that actually appear in your answers. Then add five to ten prompts written the way your buyers ask, with no brand names in them.

When to choose Scrunch

Choose Scrunch when you want a dashboard you can show your team without caveats, or when false alarms would waste your time. Its non-branded defaults and significance-tested alerts mean a change it flags is more likely to be real.

Budget for the gaps. Add the competitor its answers name most if the suggested list misses it, write prompts for each buying stage, and check whether the 5,000 monthly responses cover your prompts often enough. If you need an API or more engines, price the Enterprise plan before you commit. How Cognova AI can help

We use tools like Peec AI and Scrunch every day, and we set them up so the numbers mean something: non-branded prompts that match how your buyers ask, the competitors AI actually names, and a baseline you can measure against.

Our GEO & AEO Consulting service then finds why AI skips you, ships the fixes, and compares the prompts we worked on against ones we left alone, so you can see whether the work paid off. If you are choosing a tool now, book a call and we will review your setup before you commit.

Frequently asked questions

Is Peec AI or Scrunch cheaper?

Peec AI is cheaper to start. Its Starter plan is $95 a month for 50 prompts checked daily on three AI engines, which its pricing page puts at 4,500 answers. Scrunch's Core plan is $250 a month for 125 prompts on four engines with 5,000 responses. Scrunch covers more prompts, but Peec AI checks each prompt more often, so Peec AI gives a small business more answers per dollar.

Why does Peec AI show a higher visibility score than Scrunch?

In our test, Peec AI's auto-generated prompts included some that contained our brand name, and AI naturally mentions a brand when the question names it. Those prompts produced Peec AI's entire headline score. Scrunch's starter prompts were non-branded, so it showed zero. Filter Peec AI to non-branded prompts and the two tools tell the same story: the real visibility score is the non-branded one.

Can a small business use Scrunch or Peec AI without an agency?

Yes. Both Peec AI and Scrunch take minutes to set up and generate starter prompts and competitors for you. The risk is trusting those defaults. Check that the prompts are questions your buyers actually ask, that they do not contain your brand name, and that the competitor list matches the brands AI answers name. An hour of setup decides whether either tool's numbers are useful.

Do Peec AI and Scrunch show why AI recommends a competitor?

Partly. Peec AI and Scrunch both show which sources AI cites and which name competitors but not you, which points to pages worth targeting. Neither proves why a model chose one brand, and neither runs a control group to show whether a change you made moved your visibility. Treat their recommendations as leads to test, and compare prompts you worked on against prompts you left alone.
